For quite a time now I have suffered from anxiety attacks, part of cfs/me or just the way I react to life? My dr has tried a couple of medications but both had horrible side effects. Anxiety is a terrible thing, a feeling of intense fear, you feel as if you can't breath or swallow, as if you are about to die. The anxiety was often worse first thing in the morning so the answer seems to be to find the root cause and to deal with that.
The first thing I noticed was that my husband loved to wake up to sky news in the morning and often the news is bad enough to make even the strongest of us falter. My solution - to switch off the tv, instead we wake up to the softer tones of radio 2.
I still noticed that my mind would wander off worrying about all manner of things, I needed something positive to focus on. My solution - I had recently joined a group of fellow worshippers reading the New Daylight Bible readings series, instead of reading this haphazardly during the day (and sometimes forgetting) I make picking up this little and wonderful book my first priority. a reading from the bible followed by an interesting commentary and closing with a reflection or prayer.
Yesterdays was very apt:- Philippians 4:4-7
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Prayer:- God, from you all blessings flow.
Give us grace to trust in your power to free us from anxiety and fear.
Amen
